Although relatively low-profile compared to the 153th anniversary musical, the concert showcased the School’s musical prowess and rich history. Students, parents, patrons and old girls streamed into the campus to enjoy two evenings of delightful performances.
The first evening, titled 'Instruments of Praise', featured performances from the choral groups and Chinese Orchestra across the forms. One performance by the Concert Choir saw parents, old girls, teachers and headmistresses on stage singing with current students, using their collective voice in a rendition of 'Gloria' and uplifting praise to the Lord.
The second evening, titled 'Concerto Competition and Instrumental Showcase', turned the focus onto our Concert Band, String Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra. They tackled pieces of professional difficulty with confidence; collaborating with the DGS dance team, the finale piece of ‘Bolero’ brought the two nights of music to a rousing, fantastic close.
As our Supervisor, Mrs. Doris Ho said in her closing remarks, "In face of such music, words simply fail us." However, one final vote of thanks must be given to Mr. Leung Kin Fung, Ms Cindy Chen, Ms Mui Cheuk-yin, Mrs. Christina Chiang, Miss Grace Chiang, Miss Dorothy Hui and Mr. Chu Wai Hung for months of hard work they have dedicated to honing the skills of the students.
