Since our establishment in 1860, it has been our mission to offer an excellent all-around secondary education for girls, based on a blend of Christian values and Chinese traditions and culture. English is used as the medium of instruction in all subjects apart from Chinese Language and Chinese-related subjects. Our school offers 23 sports teams, 10 musical groups/orchestras and numerous other ECA activities.

Once admitted, your daughters will embark on a journey of discovery about the world and their place in it. At Secondary Five, students can follow either the HKDSE curriculum or the GCE Advanced Level curriculum, depending on their strengths and needs. Irrespective of their pathway, most graduates go on to prestigious tertiary institutions locally and overseas to further their education. The annual school fee per student is HK$38,000.

A. Application and Selection Details

Our selection process comprises two stages:

1. short-listing applicants on documentary information (50%) based on the personal portfolio and

2. administering interviews in English and Chinese as well as skills tests (50%). 

Stage 1: Submission of Applications

To submit applications, interested parents should open an account at https://admission.dgs.edu.hk. Enter the required information, print the Portfolio Cover Sheet and send the following documents 

1. school reports of the applicant from P.4 to P.6

(P.6 reports can be submitted as supplementary documents attached to the "supplementary information covering sheet" when they are available),

2.  a copy of the applicant's portfolio, including the Portfolio Cover Sheet, the Portfolio Summary Form and the Personal Information Form (Sports) for the School's reference 

(Applications without the Portfolio Cover Sheet will NOT be processed. The Portfolio Summary Form and Personal Information Form (Sports) can be downloaded in the DOCUMENTS Section below.)

and 

3.  a self-addressed stamped ($5.40) envelope of size C5 (162 x 229 mm)

to the School General Office (1 Jordan Road, Kowloon, Hong Kong) by REGISTERED POST or COURIER SERVICE between 19^th September and 3^rd October 2022. Please indicate clearly “Application for 2023-24 Secondary One” on the envelope.

In view of the possibility of postal service delays, applicants are advised to send application documents to the School as early as possible. Applications with a postage stamp later than 3^rd October 2022 and / or with a shortage of postage fee will NOT be processed

During the first stage, applicants are selected based on the following criteria:

1. Academic performance and conduct (25%) 
2. Academic / non-academic exposures in or outside school (25%)

Stage 2: Interviews 

Shortlisted applicants will receive application forms for Secondary One Places by the end of October 2022. The Application Form should be completed with a recent photograph affixed, and returned to the School by hand or registered post, reaching us on or before 7^th November 2022 together with the following:

1. 2 self-addressed stamped ($5.40) envelopes of size C5 (162 x 229 mm) and 
2. an application fee in the form of a crossed cheque for $50 payable to "Diocesan Girls' School" 

During the second stage, applicants will meet teachers on 26^th November 2022 and maybe, at a later stage, the Headmistress, based on the following criteria:

1. Power of understanding and analysis & responsiveness (25%)
2. Communication and other skills (25%)

Applicants with talents in music and sports may be invited to attend a Specific Skills Test and/or Music Auditions on Saturday, 19^th November 2022. Details will be posted to applicants entering Stage 2 of the application process.

Applicants with noted strength in different areas of interest might be invited to demonstrate their skills.

B. Application Results

Having completed the recruitment process, the School will inform applicants of the results of their application in mid-February 2023. Successful applicants have to sign an undertaking with the School, submit their Primary Six Student Record Forms to the School, and complete their registration with us.

Scholarship Selection

Accepted students have to sit the scholarship examination / Placement Test to be conducted on Saturday, 13^th May 2023. Those who wish to apply for music scholarships will be invited for assessments on Saturday, 25^th March 2023. Sports scholarships will also be offered based on students' performance in the specific skills test / their achievement records.
