As part of the School’s initiative to enrich our students’ understanding of innovation and technology in the modern era, we were honoured to have invited several pioneers in the field to share their expertise with us in whole-school lectures spanning the first week of the academic year. The topics and speakers include:
"A.I. in Spoken Language Technologies for Learning and Well-being" -- Professor Helen Meng
"Co-creating a Smart Campus for DGS" -- Miss Jackie Wong
"The Fintech Revolution: Opportunities for Young People" -- Miss Pauline Yeung
"Personalised Medicine – Medical 3D Printing" -- Mr. Edmond Yau, Dr. Thomas Tse, Dr. Sibyl Mak
"Evaluating News from Social Media" -- Mr. Man Cheuk Fei
The broad spectrum of lectures were extremely eye-opening for the community, with our guests providing us with overviews of the technological development in their various fields, and generously sharing their own personal experiences with these groundbreaking advances. We look forward to these talks piquing our students' interest in exploring and utilising these new technologies for the benefit of the society.
The New Student Orientation programme, organised by the School with the help from The Boys' Brigade - Anchor House, was held in late August to help introduce new girls to our school’s ethos, culture and campus, and aims to foster friendships between new girls.
The programme included a two-day day camp, honing important life skills, disciplines, and values to our new Secondary 1 students through a series of icebreaking activities and games. At school, new girls were shown around the school campus, and visited booths set up by the full range of extra-curricular groups to learn about the activities on offer at our school. About 100 senior students volunteered as big sisters to our new girls, leading them in group and one-on-one activities to get to know them and help them acclimate to their new school life.
We wish our new students all the best as they start the new school year at DGS.
