3rd April 2012 - The DGS Auditorium Inauguration Concert

The School welcomed the School Council, special guests, former Headmistresses and parents to appreciate the fruit of the hard work of all the music groups. To celebrate the occasion, our teachers and girls, under the guidance of professional bakers, prepared a 30-pound for the Ribbon-cutting and Cake-cutting Ceremony. Together with the Junior School music groups and the DGS Graduate Singers, over 600 performers took part in the concert, which touched the hearts of the music-loving audiences. It was an evening of enchantment and magic, as everyone's heart fell for the wide range of voices and instruments in music making. The Inauguration Concert opens a chapter for many more music performances in the Auditorium for music lovers inside and outside the DGS family.

It was a test of tenacity, endurance and physical strength during the three days of competition spanning a period of nine days. Without feeling complacent about leading in all three grades after the first two competition days, the Team strove with every effort on the windy and rainy Finals day to become the Champion, being First in B Grade and Second in A and C Grades. I wish to thank everyone for devoting his or her best to making this possible, overcoming all the difficulties and challenges along the way.

12th January 2012 - Speech Day

The School Council and the whole school were honoured by the presence of the Hon. Chief Justice Geoffrey and the Hon. Madam Justice Yuen to our Speech Day as our Guests of Honour, sharing in the joy of all graduates, prize-recipients and their proud parents.

We are particularly grateful that Bishop Thomas and Mrs. Soo attended the function after the Bishop's retirement and shared the fruit of the School's effort in education. As a school, Speech Day is the best occasion for us to reflect on the work done, to examine the pertinent needs of the School and make plans for the future. May the Heavenly Father bless us with wisdom and grace so that our labour can flower and bring yet more fruits.

21st December 2011 - Mini-Bazaar 2011

The first Mini-bazaar held in the redeveloped campus was received with great enthusiasm among parents, old girls and friends of the School, giving us a record of over 6,000 visitors on the day. While the 36 sales stalls and 14 games stalls provided excitement and pleasant surprises for our guests and visitors, the campus offered everyone a place to bond, to renew ties and to give to a meaningful cause during the Christmas season. I would like to give special thanks to the Rt. Revd Dr. Thomas Soo, Chairman of the School Council, for officiating at the Opening Ceremony of the event and would like to wish him a blissful retirement from 2012 onwards.

14st December 2011 - Mini-Bazaar Invitation

On behalf of the School, I would like to welcome parents, old girls and friends to this year's Mini-bazaar, the first to be held in the redeveloped campus after the school has been away for slightly over two years.

Apart from being an occasion to celebrate our return to the original site, this year's event will be refreshingly different. First, with the added space, we are sure everyone will better enjoy the fun of the day. Then to cater for a record turnout, we will be setting up the largest number of stalls ever, with Junior School girls and old girls manning some of them. Also for the first time, we will have separate areas for different products and games to ease the crowds.

As the proceeds of this annual charity function will go to a meaningful cause, we hope to share our blessings with the less fortunate from other parts of the globe. Come and make this Christmas a memorable one for everyone.

8th November and 23rd November 2011 - Inter-house Athletics Meet

The array of colours from capes, flags and banners flying in the gentle autumn breeze reminds us of the annual event at the Wanchai Sports Ground that witnesses staff and students all working closely together for keen competition, team spirit and creative fun. I wish to thank everyone for exerting full effort in the event and Mrs. Susanna Wong, Council member, parent and old girl of DGS, for presenting prizes and encouraging us on Finals day.

14th and 27th October 2011 - Division I Inter-School Swimming Championships

Holding on to solid training and hard work as the key to good preparation, the Swimming Team devoted their best united effort and was rewarded with the hard-earned success of another Grand Slam in the captioned Championships. The A Grade Team even set a new record of 1 minute 48.65 seconds in the Freestyle 4x50 Relay on Finals day. Such encouraging results brought great joy to staff and students alike, as we all benefited from the learning process. One essential note to make is our sincere gratitude to our parents, old girls and friends for their unstinting love and blessings.

30th September 2011 - PTA AGM

The event meant a double celebration for the School's PTA, which celebrated its 60th Anniversary, being the first of such organisations formed in Hong Kong back in 1951, and held their first AGM of the year in the redeveloped premises. As the School welcomed keen parents into the new campus, we are most grateful to the PTA and all the parents for the generous support our trusted partners have offered the School all these years.

16th and 20th September 2011 - Inter-house Swimming Gala

Marching into a new Swimming Gala venue after moving back to 1 Jordan Road, the school of teachers and students put in their very best on the Swimming Heats and Finals Days. Both swimmers and spectators enjoyed the fun and excitement of friendly competition amidst the sea of house colours. In particular, the School is most grateful to Mr. Marco Wu, Honorary Advisor of the Building Sub-committee of the School's Redevelopment Project, for attending the event as our Guest of Honour.
